Making Noodles with Grandmommy
Alice was cracking up with Pop while they watched Grandmommy make some home made noodles. She has learned so many new tricks this week. She is grabbing her toys and putting them in her mouth. She loves her new caterpillar toy from Aunt Abbey and her "Louis" bird from Aunt Erin. There has been no shortage of loving arms and smiles for Alice! She has been too excited to nap well while we have been away from home, but she will have long roadtrip on the way home tomorrow to catch up on those z's.

My Little Christmas Elf
Alice has discovered her tongue! She was sticking it out all night last night. I wonder if it is part of teething? She also found out last night how delicious her little toes are while I was trying to put her pajamas.
Today I am taking her in for her 4 month check-up, and shots. Poor baby. Last time I was really worried about her being sick and cranky after her shots, but she wasn't. This time I'm just worried about having to see them poke my poor baby. But hopefully she will be a good little Christmas elf today and let me get a little last minute shopping and wrapping done.
My students at school are so cute--they want Alice to come to the Christmas party. I wish I could think of a way to make that work. One of my sweet girls asked for a picture of Alice for her birthday! How sweet. They always draw pictures for Alice and write "Alice rocks" or "Tell Mrs. Woolery that Alice is cute" on the white board. They have given me a pretty tough homework assignment, too. They want me to get one of Alice's sneezes on video. I told them about how she says "achoo...aaah," and they think that is so cute. I better keep that camera rolling!
Sweet Jamie got Alice this pretty little pink hat with mittens to match. So precious!

Fun with the Hereford/Huston/College Station folks
This weekend Uncle Maury, Aunt Amy, Emma. Becki and Trey came to see us. There was no shortage of baby love. Alice loved bouncing with Becki and Trey, and that's why most of the pictures from this weekend were blurry! Becki's little pregnant belly is starting to show. It's beautiful. Alice is going to love her little boy cousin coming in April!

Suspense
I know you have been dying to find out our new nickname for Punkin Love. Well, here it is...Pooh Bear! Daddy has already read the first book, and we have started on the second, The House at Pooh Corner. He has the cutest voices for the characters--not at all like the Disney movie.
Our Pooh Bear is the BEST baby. She is making straight A's as far as I'm concerned. We have been working really hard on having a regular night time routine for her so she knows when it is bedtime. (That has not been easy for her night-owl parents.) After reading The No Cry Sleep Solution and talking to some very wise mommy friends of mine, I realized that she needs to try to go to sleep on her own, and the sooner we get her to do that, the easier it will be for all of us. So we tried it. We swaddled her up, put her in her cradle and sat on the floor next to her and read to her (Winnie the Pooh). The first few nights she stayed for a while, but then protested and decided she wanted to be held. On the third night she stayed there in her cradle and let herself go to sleep on her own! (Do I have to mention that she doesn't necessarily stay there all night.:)
Ms. Kathleen says she has been going to sleep by herself sometimes during the day, too. Oh, and Alice's little buddy is staying at Ms. Kathleen's now, too. His name is Nolen, and he is SO adorable! When I went to pick Pooh Bear up on Nolen's first day I walked in and saw them holding hands! It was so precious.

Don't Panic
Of course I took the usual weekend pictures of the little cupcake, but my camera and computer are not cooperating.
Alice is 13 weeks old this week, and she's sure happy about that. She is smiling like crazy. This morning I opened my eyes, and she opened her eyes and smiled right at me. She makes me feel like the most special person in the world, like she made a special present just for me. I love weekends when we can sleep late and love on our baby all day long.
Now that Halloween has come and gone, Daddy says that her nickname, Punkin Love has to go. Therefore I suggested Punkin Pie--a natural and seasonal progression, I thought. But, no. He says all "Punkin-ness" went out with the last holiday. So I suggested Cupcake. Cute, huh? He thinks that sounds too much like Strawberry Shortcake, the name I tried to bestow upon our prissy calico kitty.
He loves the nickname Ewok because he's a big Star Wars geek (that phase does not seem to be passing any time soon).
But I'm really into the holiday names. Holidays are SO much more fun with a baby. I can't wait till Christmas! Well, this year anyway, before she can ask for a wii.
So after all that pondering on a nickname (and with all these rigid rules applied by the father figure) I just can't think of a new nickname. But I'm sure one will come to me. All kinds of silly things come out of my mouth when I'm baby talking. I'll keep you posted.

Sparkles
Haunted Hay Ride
Saturday night we went to Seguin to see Kari and her family. They created the most wicked scary haunted hay ride. It was so awesome--they really put a lot of work into it. There was a witch, a forest of man-eating spiders, a scary guy guarding candy and chasing us with a chain saw, ghosts, a haunted grave yard, and spooky people chasing us from behind! I really liked all the "beware" and "turn back" signs and candles hanging in the trees. It was really scary! We totally loved it. We had a great time hanging out with the family. We love them so much--and there was no shortage of loving on Alice. I wish I would have taken more pictures of all those beautiful kids Kari has!
Halloween
As you can see, we had a blast on Halloween. Jamie came over, and we had pizza and spent plenty of time trying to get those eyelashes to stay on. (Alice loved staring at them!) The pink hair was easy--squirt, squirt, the jedi look comes naturally to Jason, and our chubby little monster fit into that costume one last time. It was tight, but still adorable and scary.
We roamed up and down San Antonio Street--THE place to trick-or-treat in our town. We saw lots of cute kids and dogs dressed up. Michael Myers chased us a little while, and that made us scream! We met a Pac Man that appreciated Jason's light saber.
We hurried home when Alice started telling us she had enough trick-or-treating and started in on the pumpkins. Jamie is a pumpkin artist, did you know? Mine was carved record-fast because the little monster was "growling".
