Bedtime Stories
The books that Alice is reading before bed these days are:
Bedtime for Button
Alice the Fairy
On the Day You Were Born
Goodnight Moon
Jason has a real funny voice for Alice the Fairy.
Our Alice is getting better about going to sleep in her own room. I rub her tummy until she falls asleep. It is taking less and less time each night. I am discovering that now I can get lots done after she is safe and soundly asleep in her crib. Unfortunately, I've spent lots of that time playing with itunes and my ipod. I did find a wonderful lullaby album by Jewel. It is beautiful.
Brynn, Alice's best baby friend is having her 1st birthday party tomorrow! I am so excited. We love little Brynn and her sister so dearly. That little girl lights up the room with her sweet smile. Can't wait to go celebrate with them tomorrow.

Busy, busy, busy
Wrapping up the school year. This time of year always feels like a tornado flying me around by the seat of my pants. There is always so much to do to finish up the year and get the classroom packed up. It is really emotional, too--saying goodbye to the students I have spent all year getting to know and love so well.
This year it is even crazier with Alice crawling around and pulling up on everything she can see. On top of that we are making arrangements to build our new house in Buda and put this old little place on the market. We have packed up quite a bit of our extra stuff. It was a little sad this weekend--I put my craft stuff into storage. Bummer. But I know it is necessary to clear out some of our clutter.
So there are boxes and misplaced things everywhere--all in the process of relocating. We keep working to make this place look better--but somehow it seems even more messy! On the up side--Alice loves pulling herself up on all the boxes.
W finally got Alice's crib fixed this weekend when Mommy was in town. So we have been trying to get Alice to sleep in her own room the past few nights. She wasn't happy about that. Poor thing. But I have to admit,I have slept really good the last few nights with my whole side of the bed to myself.
Next week we have an appointment with the guy who will help us pick out all our options and upgrades for the house. We are thinking double vanity, garden tub and tile!
This week Alice has her 9 month check-up. We have a few faculty end of year parties,
a few summer trainings and a wedding anniversary coming up, too. I told you we were busy!
You may have been alarmed by the pictures of Alice with a green face. No worries--she is not turning into a little green monster--it's just spinach! Yummy strained spinach. She loves it!

News
Finally the home search is over! Jason and I signed a contract Sunday to start building a new house! We found the perfect home plan in a community in Buda. We love the open floor plan. It really felt like home to us when we walked in the model home. Alice loved crawling around on the brand new carpet. We have been looking at houses for a while and dreaming of all the options that we wanted in our next house. We will be able to have all of them and more!
Open family room
huge kitchen
DISHWASHER
lots of counter space
an island in the kitchen
2 car garage
fenced back yard
big walk-in closet
garden tub
double vanity
2 linen closets
inside laundry room
tile
plus a whole bunch of groovy energy features
I just can't believe we are going to be able to live in such an awesome house! I can't wait to go pick out all the colors of brick, carpet, tile, paint...
We will be able to move in some time in November. It will be so cool to watch them build our house.
So we are cleaning up and packing up our little old house on Johnson Avenue. We will put a "For Sale" sign up next week. If we sell it soon, we'll have to find a rental home. Who will rent to a family with 4 animals? So we might have to move twice this year. Yikes. But it will be so great to live closer to the schools where we work and spend less time commuting.
It really will be sad to move from our sweet neighborhood and our kind neighbors--Sierra and Jane. This little home has seen us through the best and worst of times.
But...we're movin' on up! Can't wait to invite you to our new home in Buda!
The Amazing Alice!
Oh the things she can do! Among Alice's awesome new skills are:
eating spinach
holding her fists high in the air to greet her loved ones
pulling up to standing on anything and everything
fitting her whole foot in her mouth
giving slimy kisses on the lips
banging toys and sippy cups
"reading" the mail
tasting cat food
petting kitties
laughing at puppy kisses
playing the piano
fighting off sleep
eating teething biscuits in her bumbo
On a bit of a sad note, those few sweet little long hairs that were hanging on behind her ears are almost gone. I love those so much. But she is getting more hair, and it looks lighter than it was when she was born.
She is trying lots of new foods lately. This week she has tried prunes and spinach--and loves both! These foods are also on the menu this week: sweet potatoes, winter squash, green beans, regular potato, apricots, beets and yogurt.
