hug me

Alice is 3 weeks old today. We slept late, took a sponge bath, put on a cute outfit, and had a photo shoot! We love our girl time together.

I love...

1. her baby squeaks and whistles

2. the way she moves her head back and forth when she is rooting and looking for a snack

3. the way she stares into my eyes--searching for meaning and understanding. such an incredibly strong connection

4. the contented look on her face when she has a full tummy

5. she looks like a baby Ewok

6. her little bird face--she purses up her lips like a tiny rosebud

7. and, of course, her wonderful baby smell!

Welcome to the World, Alice Sapphire!

Our darling baby, Alice, was born 8-8-08 at 5:23pm. She weighed 7 lbs. 9 oz. and measured 20 inches long. She didn't keep her mama in labor very long--thank goodness! The "A" Team (A is for Alice, of course) was assembled to coach me through: Jason, my mom, my 3 midwives: Kari, Salli, and Amber, my cousin Becki, and my friend Jamie. I didn't have to go through one contraction without having my back rubbed and encouraging words whispered in my ears. We were all so happy and thankful when she came out crying and showing off her beautiful, alert eyes. It felt so good to hold her perfect, warm little body in my arms. She was a pro at nursing from the very beginning, too. Good girl! This pretty little baby made so many people happy.
