Baby Bunny!

Strolling along (well, actually I was being dragged along by my very eager mutts who haven't been walked in way too long), enjoying the spring time air and all of a sudden we see a tiny furball dart across the doorstep of a house we are passing by. "A tiny baby bunny!," I screeched. Jason confirmed. We look to Alice for a third opinion, but she must have been looking at the clouds because she did not comment. A few seconds after it hid from our view we started thinking it couldn't have been a bunny. It was just so very tiny! And what was a baby bunny doing on that porch anyway?
The owners of the home come out to see why some lunatics in their front yard are staring at their house. We tell them we think we saw a bunny. I can tell by the look on the woman's face that she thinks we are just a little strange. So on we go pushing the stroller, dragging the dogs back to a reasonable pace, regretting looking like such weirdos when the lady yells for us to come back. I twirl that stroller around so fast Alice almost flew out and race back to the bunny. "I knew it!"
The kind woman gives the tiny handful of fur to me as I promise to let it go far away from our dogs and toward the west, because they hear coyotes toward the east (yikes!). We go around to block to check our mail. All the while I am pushing the stroller with one hand and holding on to the baby bunny with the other (making sure that Jason is way ahead with the dogs nowhere near my precious new pet.) It didn't take long at all to fall in love with the sweet little thing. So incredibly soft and sweet with a darling little white spot right on top of his head, he just sat in my hand like he could be my little friend forever. I started thinking of names and a place to keep him. But then I thought of his poor worried mommy out there looking for him. We decided we had to let him go.
Just behind our neighborhood mailbox complex around the corner is a lovely little park. We spotted the perfect tree with a little cozy hole at the bottom-the perfect spot for our baby bunny to stay safe and warm while he waited for his mommy.

Getting Closer to 2

Today Alice turned 19 months old. She is closer to 2 than 1. She is learning new words every day. This weekend we spent time outside weeding our yard, and she learned the word "outside." She is officially over her high chair. She loves climbing up onto our big people chairs and must sit at the table with us. We borrowed a little booster seat from Jonas, so she fits just fine. But I'm a little too sad to pack up her high chair just yet.

Eleanor's birthday

Last weekend we went to Alice's 3-year-old friend's birthday party. We made ice cream with milk, baggies, ice and salt. Alice loved it! She was really interested in a little tea set that Eleanor opened at the party. A few day later Alice's daddy got her one so she could have her own tea parties. He got me some of my favorite Celestial Seasonings tea and some "biscuits" so I could play along with Alice. Sweet, huh?
